RETURN TO PLAY UPDATE #1
Submitted By cbaker on Tuesday, August 18, 2020

Dear MMHA Families,

Hockey this year will look quite a bit different for us due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Under the direction of Hockey Canada, OHF, OMHA and The Local Health Unit we are working on putting together a Return To Play Plan for our centre. We ask for your patience through this process as this is new to all of us. With things constantly changing with the government guidelines, things will change for us as well when restrictions lift slowly by the OHF. The Return to Play Plan for MMHA is a working document and can be changed as the season goes on.

We plan to resume hockey activities the week of September 28th, giving everyone a chance to settle back into the school routine.  As of right now the arena is not allowing spectators, but this could change as restrictions ease.  Players must dress at home and there will be chairs for them to tie their skates in the lobby.  As of right now Parents can come in to help tie skates but must immediately leave the arena.  For Our Facility Covid-19 restrictions please see: https://www.midland.ca/NSSRC .

This season there will be no rep teams or local league travel teams. We will be running a 3 on 3 house league with smaller team sizes. There will be a 3 week development and evaluation period, followed by team creation and 3 on 3 play. Once our plan has been approved by the OMHA we will be able to give you more information about how this will look.

Registration will be open until September 11, 2020 at that time it will be closed, and we will not be taking anymore registrations for the year.

Registration fees will stay the same to supplement for the rising cost of ice time and to pay for referees and timekeepers as there will be no gate fees.  Those who have prepaid for rep tryouts and gate fees will receive a refund for those fees.  If you and your child(ren) are not wanting to participate this season and /or want a refund you will need to let Colleen Baker know by September 11, 2020.  No requests for refunds after this date; no exceptions.  You can contact her by email at [email protected]

For those who have not sent registration fees in please promptly start sending them in, by e-transfer to [email protected] or cheque to:
Attention: MMHA Treasurer,
PO Box 482
Midland, ON.

.
If you cannot pay all the fee by September 30th please let us know and we can try to work something out as we know the pandemic has put some families in a tough spot.

Please see the attached OHF Return to Play Document.  Pages to focus on are:  Appendix E (page 30), Appendix F (Page 31).

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask and I can answer them the best I can at this time.  Once we have a return to play plan approved, we will communicate it with you all.  Please watch your email, the MMHA website and social media for updates in the coming weeks.

Thank you,

Colleen Baker

MMHA President
