Entry Level Referee Clinic

Midland Minor Hockey Association is happy to be hosting this entry level referee clinic

Date: Sunday, October 27th, 2019
Time: 9:00am to 4:30pm / Registration begins at 8:00am SHARP / (30 min lunch break)
Location: North Simcoe Sports & Recreation Centre - Midland, Ontario
Costs: Costs: Level I - $128.50 / Level II - $178.50
Required Equipment: Please bring a pen/pencil for in class assignments, as well as a lunch and snacks (not provided).

Level I - $128.50

  • must be 14 years of age as of December 31st, 2019
  • will be qualified to officiate house league

Level II - $178.50

  • must be 16 years of age or older as of December 31st, 2019
  • will be qualified to officiate both house league and representative.

In order to be accepted and registered into the clinic, the OMHA must first receive a completed registration form (see below) as well as payment via E-transfer.

The clinic fee is based on the age/level and clinic location. Please ensure you are paying the appropriate amount.

Upon receiving both the completed registration form and payment, the applicant shall be registered into the clinics and given access to the Hockey University online module prerequisite.

Please note, this prerequisite is emailed to your email address as indicated on your Online Hockey Canada Profile (which the applicant should have created). This prerequisite must be completed and proof of such completion must be provided upon entry into the clinic.


  1. Please complete the applicable form - Midland Entry Level Refree Clinic Registration Form
  2. Please email the completed form to [email protected]
  3. Please include the subject line as “Registration Form” followed by the full name of the applicant and the clinic that is being registered for (i.e. Registration Form – Jane Doe – Midland Clinic).

E-Transfer Requirement:

  1. Please ensure the appropriate amount is paid based on the age/level and clinic one is registering for (see above)
  2. Please make transfers payable to [email protected]
  3. Please make the transfer question as What sport am I refereeing? And the answer: hockey
  4. Please include the full name of the applicant and the clinic that is being registered for in the notes/comment section (i.e. John Doe – Midland Clinic)

ALL participants MUST have the following items or they will be denied entry:

  1. Create an eHockey Account (see - How to Setup…): Everyone must create an eHockey account prior to being registered in any clinic. I cannot register anyone until an eHockey account has been created.
  2. Hockey University Online E-Learning Certificate: This is an online training module that must be completed prior to attending the clinic. Please print off the certificate of completion and bring to the clinic. This program is included in the registration cost and a link will be sent via your Hockey Canada/eHockey account email after receiving payment.
  3. Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS): Everyone 18 years and older must provide a completed VSS and bring such to the Clinic (it must be a VSS and recently obtained). Police detachments will require a letter from the OHF in order to obtain the VSS (see attached - VSS OHF Letter). For those under the age of 18, a completed criminal declaration must be submitted (see attached - Declaration).
  4. Respect in Sport /Speak Out Certificate: This is an online training module which must be completed by each prospective referee. If you have previously taken a Speak Out program (typically from past coaching), you will not be required to complete the Respect in Sports modules. Please print off the certificate of completion and bring to the clinic. This program is not included in the registration cost.

Acceptance into this clinics shall be on a first come basis. Please note both the completed registration form and E-transfer must be received to be accepted into a clinic. It may take up to 5 days to confirm registration.

This clinic is 7 hours in length / There will be no on-ice component

Participants will receive:

  • Hockey Canada Rule Book/Casebook
  • OMHA, OHF & Hockey Canada Crests
