Boathouse Eatery Atom Rep team wins the Toronto Aeros Atom A Winter Challenge Tournament!!
Congratulations
go out to The Boathouse Eatery Atom Rep team for winning the Toronto Aeros Atom A
Winter Challenge Tournament, their third
tournament championship of the year.
The team went
undefeated with a 6-0 record this past weekend beginning Friday morning where they were
able to come out on top of a close affair with a 2-1 win over West Mall Lightning.
In the afternoon they played against the Heartland Dragons from Mississauga and
the boys dominated this game start to finish with a 10-0 victory.
On Saturday, the boys played 2 more games. The first in the morning against the Leaside Flames winning 3-0. Then facing off against the Don Mills Mustangs in the afternoon with a solid effort winning 6-1 to finish pool play and earning a spot in the semi finals.
The Sunday Morning semi final had them facing the Vaughan Panthers who currently hold first place in the GTHL Atom A league in Toronto. This was likely the best game the Midland squad have played all year with a total team effort to come out on top with a 3-0 shutout victory setting them up for a thrilling championship game later on Sunday afternoon.
The Championship game saw Midland facing the Toronto Royals also from the GTHL league in what would be a very exciting and closely matched game. After a scoreless first period, the Royals took a 1-0 lead in the second, but the momentum was shifting and Midland found the net early in the third to tie 1-1. This game seemed destined for overtime but with less than a minute left in the game and the face-off in the Royals end, Midland took a timeout and with a very inspirational speech from the coaches the boys found a way with just 2 seconds left in the game to bury a hard fought and determined goal for the 2-1 Victory!
The entire team spent the weekend in Toronto and everyone had a superb weekend of hockey, team bonding and socializing. Congratulations to all of the team members, coaches and parents!
