Boathouse Eatery Atom Rep team win Huntsville Otters Atom Rep Classic Tournament
Congratulations go out to The Boathouse Eatery Atom Rep team for winning their second consecutive championship title on November 12th, this time winning the Huntsville Atom Rep Championship.
The final tally for the weekend saw the boys go undefeated with a record of 4-0-1
The tournament started Friday afternoon facing off against West Farris Trappers, a team from North Bay and came out flying to capture an 8-1 victory to start the tournament.
On Saturday they won the first game beating the Nickel City Flyers from Sudbury with another strong offensive push by everyone to win 6-1. The second game on Saturday was a tight affair against the Strathroy Rockets, the end result of the game was a 3-3 tie, both teams played a great game. With the 2-0-1 record in round robin the atom boys were seeded in first place just ahead of Strathroy Rockets heading into Sunday in Division A.
On Sunday morning the team faced a familiar opponent in the Oro Thunder Atom Rep team who placed second in their round robin Division B play. The team played a good all around game and were able to skate away with a 4-1 victory to put them in the Championship final a few hours later. At the same time the St. Mary’s Rock were playing against the Strathroy Rockets to determine the opponent for the finals, St. Mary’s won their semi-final with a 4-1 victory as well.
The championship game was set, St. Mary’s Rock vs Midland Centennials – as some would say the rivalry is still strong between these two centres. It was these two teams that faced each other the year prior for the OMHA finals where Midland was victorious and both teams having several returning players made for a great match up. It was a fantastic game, the offence was going, the defence was excellent and the goaltending was superb and Midland won the championship game with a final score of 3-1 to win the tournament!
The entire team spent the weekend in Huntsville and everyone had a great weekend, congratulations to all of the team members, coaches and parents!
