On January 11th the Olympia Sports Midland
Centennial Atom AE team travelled to the Niagara region to play in the
International SilverStick Finals hosted by the town of Pelham. Over the 4
day tournament our Atom boys played 5 awesome games against some really great
teams from across Ontario as well as a team all the way from California.
Our Midland Centennial team made it all the way to the semi-finals but
unfortunately ended up losing a hard fought game vs. Grand Rapids.
All the boys played their hearts out and the coaching staff did a
fantastic job keeping the smiles on the boys faces and the energy alive on the
bench in the difficult times.
The Atom boys all had a great time on the ice and off the ice even making a trip to the Fallsview waterpark where they got to hang out with a few other atom teams. During the SilverStick opening ceremonies the Atom AE boys had the opportunity to take part in the traditional trading of team pins. There were approximately 100 teams to trade with and the Midland Centennial Pin was in high demand this year. The boys, coaches and parents all had an amazing time, made new friends, including former Toronto Maple Leaf Gary Roberts, and will never forget the experience of being able to take part in such a special international tournament.
We are all very proud of the Midland Atom AE boys with all of their hard work and excellent sportsmanship throughout the entire tournament. Go Centennials Go!!!
