Tournament Champions!
This past weekend the Midland Centennials U13 - 2 team participated in the Midland Centennial Cup LL tournament from Friday, January 3rd to Sunday, January 5th.

The weekend kicked off with the Centennials facing the Penetang Flames LL 2 team on Friday morning.   Both teams worked hard and battled to the final whistle with the Centennials coming out on top by a score of 6-1.   The Centennials got goals from Alby B (3), Bentley P (2) and Max M with assists to Jaxxon C (2), Hank B (2), Riley R, Max M and Brayden C.

Game two was played against the South Muskoka Bears with the Centennials coming out on top 16-0.  Goal scorers were Alban B (3), Brayden C (3), Hank B (2), Quinn C (2) Jaxxon C (2), and singles to Max M, Carter D, Bryiss C and Bentley P.
Game three was on Saturday morning and a date with the other undefeated team, the Kawartha Lakes Coyotes.  The boys battled to a scoreless first period but a persistent effort from Quinn C opened the scoring in the second period with an assist from Hank B.   In the third period a goal from Bryiss C, assisted by Aiden T and Talan M (with a beauty screen in front of the net by Bentley P) sealed the victory for the Centennials and a shutout for goalie Zack H.

The semi-final was a date with a familiar foe, the Midland Centennials LL 1 team.   The game was very even and in the end the U13-2 Centennials managed a very close 4-1 victory on goals by Brayden C, Alby B, Jaxxon C and Talan M with assists to Talan M, Hank B, Carter D and Jaxxon C.

The tournament final was a date with the Penetang Flames who the Centennials had defeated 6-1 earlier in the tournament.   The Centennials expected a much tougher challenge in the final and the Flames did not disappoint, charging out to leads of 3-0 and 4-1 before the Centennials mounted a very gritty comeback.   Several key saves by Zack H in the second period kept the Centennials hopes alive and eventually they turned the game around.  Goals by Hank B, Alby B, Creighton P, Max M and the game (and tournament) winning goal by Carter D (on a penalty shot) sealed the victory for the Centennials in nail biting fashion with assists to Jaxxon C, Hank B, Talan M, Max M, Brody W and Quinn C.

The Midland Centennials U13 - 2 are the 2025 Midland Centennials Cup champions.
Thanks to all participating teams and the MMHA for putting on such a fun weekend of hockey.
